Exercise Research from IHRSA

I was reading a recent article on "The Healing Power of Exercise", from IHRSA. I wanted to share some of the findings.

I believe what I'm about to share is huge and is a big concern for parents. "According to a recent study by Johns Hopkins University, by 2015 nearly 24% of US children and adolescents will be overweight or obese. Research shows that children will reap immediate dividends and long-lasting benefits from exercise".

Study Results: Adolescents who participate in a range of physical activity are less likely to engage in high risk behaviors and more likely to have higher grades than those who engage in sedentary behavior.

They did a study of 11,957 adolescents that stressed regular exercise and parental involvement. There were many benefits of regular exercise with the adolescents and fewer instances of high risk behavior such as - use of illegal drugs, violence, sexual intercourse, & delinquency. Another huge benefit, they had higher self esteem, which is very important in those developmental years.

If your truly care about your children, you'll start to implement some sort of exercise, sport or fitness activity into their lives. You'll be setting them up for years of success.
