What should I eat?

What should I eat? This is another common question I get often. Actually more than often, everyday. The question is, what should you not eat. I think one of the biggest misconceptions people do is drink diet soda and think its no big deal. Diet soda is not good just cause there are no calories. The artificial sweeteners in diet soda can cause havoc on your blood sugar and most times cause you to gain weight.

Another thing diet sodas and regular sodas have is phosphoric acid, which depletes calcium out of your bones. Is this something you want to do to your body? I think not. To me and every nutritionist out there, sodas are poison, no joke. I see so many kids drinking this stuff. Please parents take control and give your children a chance to have a healthy and productive life. Teach them the right way to eat and drink. They will thank you for it when they are older.

Top 3 exercise questions

I receive many questions each day, but the most popular questions are as follows.

1. How long will it take me to lose, so much pounds?

2. How often do I need to workout?

3. What should I do cardio or weights?

I will give you general answers to these questions.

1. If your exercising correctly and eating right, you should lose 1-3 lbs per week. There are extremes. I have seen clients lose 10 lbs in 1 week.

2. I recommend 3 days of resistance training and 3 days of cardio when you first start out. These can be on the same day. Resistance training days, whole body workouts are recommended. Cardio should start at 20 minutes per session and change every 3 weeks. Either increase time, intensity, or change the mode, - bike, walk, stairmaster, etc.

3. To really lose the weight you want, resistance training is a must. For every extra pound of muscle you build, you can burn up to an extra 100 calories per day. This may not sound like a lot, but think about it. 100 times 365 = 36500 calories per year. That's a lot of weight. Studies also show that your metabolism will be elevated up to 24 hours. So when your sleeping, you will be burning more fat than if you did not resistance train.

Keep those questions coming!

My First Yoga Workout

Well I finally did it. I went to my first yoga class. It all worked out great. One of my good friends was also intereted in doing a class, so we did it together this past Sunday. I can see why people like yoga and understand how they see great benefits. Its a combination of stretching, isometric contractions, and overall a good full body workout.

Most of body is sore today, so I guess that's a good sign. From what the instructor mentioned, this was one the easy yoga classes and if I was up for it I could come back Tuesday night for a more challenging workout. I think for right now I'll stay in the easy class:)

Just received a Registered Trademark

Something told me that finally my Trademark was approved today. I looked on the website and yes it was approved and given a number. Thats such a big step for my clothing line, "Mozis Wear". Everything with this process has gone very smoothly. I want to thank Jim Broder for his expert advice and follow through. Jim is my trademark attorney and friend.

Right now I'm scheduled for 2 events in the next few months and I'm very excited to see the potential of my apparel. I want to also thank everyone for their ideas and feedback. One day Mozis Wear will be founder of a Childhood Obesity program that helps families learn and get healthy. Its up to us to make a difference and mine starts with childhood obesity.

My review of Via Italia Trattoria

People who know me, know that I am a down to earth and overall good person. I don't cause trouble or treat people badly. The reason I'm telling you these things is because you might be not believe what I'm about to share with you.

Well this past weekend I had an experience at Via Italia Trattoria, which is a Italian restaurant in Encintas, CA., that I'm not sure I can really explain to the extent that I observed, but I'll try. Three of my friends and I went out to eat this past Saturday and picked Via Italia Trattoria as our choice. The main reason we picked this restaurant was it close to our bar of choice that night.

As we all sat down our waiter approached asking if we wanted drinks. I proceeded in giving him my drink order, vodka seltzer. He then immediately went off to put in the drink order without taking anyone Else's order. We found it kind of weird, but whatever. As he brought me my drink and then asked J what his drink choice was and as soon as he took his order he was off without taking anyone Else's order. OK now, we were thinking whats going on here? We also asked him what kind of wine would be good with our steak. He had no idea what we were even asking him. Wow, since this place was an upscale Italian restaurant and most plates were $20-$40 I would of expected different. We figured it was his first night and he probably had no idea what he was doing. Even though the service was not the best it did not put a damper on things, we were all having a goods time hanging with old friends. It was B, J, V, and myself.

Since it was kind of late, we all decided to split our meals. J and myself ordered the Prime Rib. B and V ordered the pizza. This is were the story gets interesting. As our food was being served we noticed that our Prime Rib was now a New York Strip. Hmmmmmm, what's going on here? I'm thinking as this point I'm on Candid Camera or something. We asked the waiter what kind of steak it was, it said it was prime rib. Oh boy, I am on Candid Camera. We then asked for the manager to come out to explain to us how this New York Strip was Prime Rib. The manager had agreed with the waiter and told us it was a Prime Rib. He said it looked liked the picture in the kitchen. It looked like what, I'm thinking? We were all thinking this has to be a joke. No it wasn't and they weren't very nice about it either.

As the manager was walking away, he said, "It is what is, take it or leave it." We were all stunned. He then shouted in a anger voice, that in his country, they don't waste food and we Americans waste food and take advantage of others. WOW, I was completely offended. And we were all pissed off. The cook even came out with the picture of the steak and the meat itself to show us what he served. Yes we an see that its New York Strip. Wow again. Remember, this is an upscale Italian restaurant. Via Italia Trattoria in Encintas, CA.

Our friend J, wanted to make a point and pay for the steak and then talk to the owner the following day. The owner had to hear how his restaurant was being run.

Well to make this short J did call and speak with the owner. J explained what happened. The owner then said, :"blah, blah, blah, that's all I hear from you." He told us to never come back and cause trouble in his restaurant again.

It all my experiences eating in restaurants, I have never been so offended and pissed off. I don't mind foreigners making a life in the USA, but to degrade and cut us down, pisses me off. Please eat with caution, for you may be offended for being an American.
