Drink diet soda, gain weight?

Posted by San Diego Fitness Training | 8:06 PM | , , | 0 comments »

I have seen it all too often. People think that because they are drinking diet soda, its OK and there will be NO consequences. Guess what? There are big consequences, like your weight and your health. Soda, diet soda, & all these other sugar/artificial sweeteners drinks are one of the most unhealthy things you can consume. Check out this recent study on drinking diet soda.

I'm a firm believer in water and its great benefits. I had an overweight client, who stopped drinking soda and starting drinking water, he lost 13 lbs in 1 week. No lie, true story. He was obese at 320 at the age of 33. It sure was great to see him change his lifestyle and get the best results.

Please take care of your health. "We only appreciate our health when its gone." KM

Since I work for myself, I need to find new business on a continued basis. People often ask me what do I do to find new clients. Something that has helped me double my business in the past year has been BNI, which is a networking group. We meet once a week at 7am. We network and exchange leads during our meetings. We also learn about each other businesses, so we have a better idea of what their looking for. We have around 35 different professions and growing. I feel BNI is a great way to expand your business. Not only have I received good leads for potential clients, I have also met great power team associates. Nutritionist, massage therapist, and even Doctors. I suggest giving it try, but only if your looking to really grow your business. Good Luck.

Stability ball oblique exercises are one the best ways to get solid abs. You will see me demonstrating an oblique exercise at the end of my video. The first exercise is the ball crunch. You want to make sure your lower back is the center of the ball as your doing this exercise. You also want your hips to be level to the ground. Lowering your hips will make this exercise easier. Moving your body back over the ball will make this exercise more challenging. At the end of this video I demonstrate a stability ball oblique exercise that can be done in the comfort of your home. Many exercises can be done using the stability ball, the ones I like best are functional and focus on the core muscles. Enjoy the exercise and let me know how its working.

Here are some ab exercises with resistance bands that you can do anywhere. A resistance band and a door anchor to attach the to the side of the door are needed to complete this exercise. See what a Personal Trainer eats

I think I had a great idea last night. "The Bachelor Diet Book" since I'm a bachelor and I have been making my own food for the past 15 years, I thought who better than me to share what a bachelor can eat to stay healthy. I'm asking for some feedback on this one. If I get the right response I might start writing all my famous recipes.

Let me share what I ate yesterday. One thing to have in mind when making your own food, try to eat protein with every meal. This will really help stabilize your blood sugar and burn fat.

Breakfast:

  • 1 cup of oatmeal
  • handful of raw almonds
  • 1 tablespoon of almond butter with the oatmeal
Mid morning snack:
  • Protein shake w/tablespoon of flaxseed oil
Lunch:
  • Pea soup with chicken
Mid afternoon snack:
  • Turkey sandwich on Ezkel bread, red onion, goat cheese, and a touch of cilantro
Dinner:
  • Turkey burger made in skillet, with red onion, 4 mushrooms, goat cheese, 1 tomato(all mixed together).
  • Papaya for desert
Snack:
  • Handful of raw almonds and sunflower seeds. 1 Apple
This is a good idea of what I eat in an given day. Yes I do change it often, but always stay with a few regular items. Not only do I eat healthy, I try to make it as cheap as possible. Being a bachelor for so long I have learned some easy and effective ways of eating healthy the cheap way. One thing I do every week to keep down the cost, I shop at Costco for good deals in bulk. If you want some more tips, let me know. "Take care of your health, its your responsibility."

Benefits of Cilantro

Posted by San Diego Fitness Training | 11:43 AM | | 1 comments »

I started growing a herb garden last year and have really enjoyed the fresh supply of cilantro that I now have. Cilantro has so much taste and you can eat it with almost anything. I have been putting it on my turkey sandwiches, which makes a great tasty addition. I also have put it in pasta dishes, eggs, and on my turkey burgers.

Since I have been eating cilantro on a regular basis I thought it would be nice too look up the benefits and see what else I can learn.

Here are just a few of the benefits of Cilantro:

  • A great source of iron and magnesium, which women should get a good supply daily
  • Rich in phytonutrients and flavonoids, which helps protect against disease
  • Lowers bad cholesterol (LDL) and raises good cholesterol (HDL)
  • Is an anti-inflammatory that may alleviate symptoms of arthritis
